TECHNICAL SPECIALISTADOLESCEN T HEALTH and OUTREACH

CARE International Indonesia, an international
Non-Government Organization, is implementing Recovery Programme in the Tsunami
hit areas of Banda Aceh, Aceh Besar and Simeulue. The programme aims to
rehabilitate tsunami affected population of the three districts. CARE International Indonesia is presently seeking the following
positions to be based in Banda Aceh:

TECHNICAL SPECIALISTADOLESCEN T HEALTH and OUTREACH

MAIN
PURPOSE :
The Adolescent health and outreach technicalspecialist has overall responsibility for implementing the various tasks of theadolescent health and outreach component of youth project. This will includeconducting trainings, courses, capacity building programs, conducting surveys,conducting youth activities, assessing adolescent health training needs, defining priorities, ensuringmonitoring and evaluation of the youth development project and in general,providing the interface between Project Manager and community membership. S/hewill need to ensure that the project is well planned and the goals are met.


RESPONSIBILITIES :
Ø In coordination withproject Manager, ensure adolescent projects objectives are met within thedesignated time frame and budget.

Ø
Ensurethe adolescent health needs of Acehnese youth especially to the needs ofhomeless, street youth, orphans and youth affected by substance abuse ensuringthat the needs of young women got access to health information and service.
Ø
Manage and oversight of theadolescent health program in accordance with CARE policies and procedures.
Ø
Develop a adolescent health trainingprogram which is based on participatory approaches and is inclusive of writtentraining materials and hands on practical activities in coordination withmedical doctor and counselor.
Ø
Ensure an appropriate safe andsupportive environment in place and that internal behavioral rules are adheredto.
Ø
Responsible of staff capacitybuilding of medical doctor, counselor and outreach workers.
Ø Coordinate and integrate adolescenthealth program with others division; psychosocial and life skill and vocationalwith other program sectors in CARE Aceh to ensure
adequate support for program implementation
Ø Participate intraining/workshop /seminar as required by Project Manager
Ø
Develop and implement detailed work plan and schedule of programactivities in
Ø Adolescent centre,based on the approved annual work plan, and in
Ø Coordination withProject manager and training coordinator
Ø On a monthly basis,
provide all required data, in a format determined by the project manager, for
submission to the project manager for further analysis, evaluation and action.
Ø Coordinate with local government, Stake holders, private sectors and
other NGO to support activities related by project
Ø Designing trainingmodules for adolescent health project, in reviewing and providing inputs onsurvey questionnaires, and in other program matters, as requested by projectmanager.
Ø Report to, consult, and
provide regular updates to the project manager to ensure the implementation
process of the project is of a high quality;
Ø Participate in regular
staff meetings to evaluate program performance, achievements, and review
program planning
Ø Provide a brief summary
of monthly activities to Adolescent Project Manager, with problems and
solutions mentioned.
Ø Organize and conduct
adolescent health trainings for staff and beneficiaries.
Ø Collect relevant data from government department, or other agencies to
assist in program monitoring and evaluation;
Ø Maintain good workingrelationship with community leaders, religious leaders, community members,Health providers, government departments and other
private organizations;
Ø Prepare pre and post surveys forevaluation of an activity/training.
Ø Follow established CARE
policies and procedures on programs, finance, HR/admin, logistic, and security;
Ø Conduct any other duties that mayreasonably be assigned by supervisor.


Reports to :Project Manager, Youth Development Project.

QUALIFICATIONS:
·
Bachelor’s degree in medical, psychology, social or any relevantbackground.
·
Aminimum of 3 years experience in a adolescent health program in an NGO orGovernment Organization.
·
Good communications skills, including negotiation skills
·
Good interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy,willingne ss to listen and respect for beneficiaries
·
Good presentation skill.
·
Able to operate Computer (Ms word and Excel)
·
Able to negotiate and to clarify expectations of both the
beneficiaries and team
·
Able to give helpful directions, detailed instructions anddemonstrations
·
Demonstrate ability to work as part of a team in a cross culturalenvironment
·
Willing to spend a considerable amount of time in the field
·
Honest, responsible, self motivated and able to take initiative
under minimum supervision
