Field Engineer for Nias The World Bank Social Development Department manages a diverse portfolio of community development operations, analytical tasks, and policy dialogue with Government on participatory programs for poverty reduction. Staff come from a broad range of backgrounds, but all are committed to basic principles of participation in development programs. As part of its portfolio, the Social Development Department provides assistance to the Government’s national poverty program, PNPM-Mandiri, as well as associated operations and analytical work related to MDGs, justice for the poor, conflict, and gender. The World Bank is seeking committed individuals to fill the following:

Specific Responsibilities

Specific tasks for this assignment are:
Provide facilitation to consultants and stakeholders in Nias.
Provide inputs to improve the quality of settlement plan preparations in Nias.
Provide monitoring and evaluation especially in technical areas including technical data and project operations.

Provide supervision support for the KRRP in Nias. Must be willing to travel to Nias and Aceh frequently.
The Field Engineer will be based in Jakarta and undertake frequent travel to Aceh and Nias during the service year .

Outputs
Given the general managerial nature of the assignment, outputs will take the form of operational support, monthly progress reports, and other technical reports as needed. Technical assistance will also be provided to KRRP consultants.

Selection Criteria

Minimum bachelor (S-1) degree
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of architecture or civil engineering. Experience with community-driven development programs is advantageous.
Basic understanding of and experience with computers for reporting purposes and MIS data entry
Ability to work as part of a team. Must be able to work congenially and productively with other members in a team context, including local government officials, consultants, and village leaders.

Reporting
The Field Engineer will be supervised and report directly to the Nias Operations Officer under the overall guidance of the Social Development Operations Manager and the Sector Coordinator.
