Vacancy Nutrition Consultant

UNICEF MEULABOH is looking for the following consultant according to the terms of reference below:

TITLE: Nutrition Consultant
SECTION: Health & Nutrition
DUTY STATION: Meulaboh

Background & Purpose:
UNICEF as a lead agency for Nutrition, started interventions on treatment for severe acute malnourished children and breastfeeding awareness in West Coast since 2005 provided necessary training, screening, monitoring and combines provision of Ready-to-Use- Therapeutic- Food (RUTF) and outpatient drug treatment protocols for the outpatient treatment of severe malnutrition. Also trained and graduated the Breastfeeding Counselor and Facilitator team in district in aim to monitor and encourage community to breastfeed the baby.
The Nutrition Consultant is required to commence continuous projects on CTC services activities in remain two districts named Aceh Barat Daya and Singkil also monitor the post CTC services interventions in Aceh Selatan, Nagan Raya and Simeulue districts in addition to the Breastfeeding Counselors and Facilitators – Supervision; and BF Counselling Services at “Cut Nyak Dien” Hospital activities in Aceh Barat and Aceh Jaya districts.

Major Tasks tobe accomplished:

Ensure CTC Services Training reaches nutrition staff from 11 Puskesmas and Posyandu cadres in ABDYA district in addition to the nutrition staff from 7 Puskesmas and Posyandu cadres in Singkil district.
Provide technical assistance to DHO staff in monitoring and screening for malnutrition cases among children under 5 years.
Help DHOs to establish an efficient system to collect and entry data on CTC services, as well as analyze it.
Review the questionnaire for Breastfeeding Supervision adopted from the global WHO 40 hour manual Breastfeeding Training
Assist DHO staff in supervising 175 BF counselors and 8 BF Facilitators from Aceh Barat and 50 BF counselors from Aceh Jaya; ensure more than 50% post partum women counseled on BF issues.
Conduct and assess the BF practice at Cut Nyak Dien Hospital Meulaboh. Result should be tested and applied as a BF services routine supervision tool.

Qualifications & Experience required:
Educational Background: Advance Degree in Health or Nutritionist equivalent background in Medicine.
Minimum 1 year of progressive provincial and district level experience in nutrition and health related capacity building, promotion, preferably working with implementation and monitoring, technical supports, and trainings.
Understanding of local government policies, guidelines, legislation, and strategies on nutrition and health developments is a must
Sound familiar on UNICEF Business Process, Programme Policies, goals, strategies, guidelines and approaches in health
Knowledge of computer management skills, including EPI info, excel, internet navigation and various office applications.
