ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR SERVICES, INVESTMENT AND ENTERPRISE
BUREAU FOR ECONOMIC INTEGRATION AND FINANCE (BEIF)
The above position in the Bureau for Economic Integration and Finance (BEIF), the ASEAN Secretariat, will be vacant soon.
Generally, an Assistant Director (ADR) in BEIF initiates, coordinates, and monitors the implementation of regional economic cooperation and integration activities in support of the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community by 2015. The ADR also helps to develop policy options and strategic directions for economic and finance integration in ASEAN. The post is a mid-level management position where the person will have to exercise leadership qualities, and hold managerial responsibilities apart from possessing expert knowledge in the required fields.
The ADR for Services, Investment and Enterprise provides support for the monitoring, coordination and implementation of the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Services, the ASEAN Investment Area and the development of Small and Medium Enterprises in support of the implementation of the AEC Blueprint, a master plan for the establishment of the AEC by 2015, in particular the creation of a single market and production base.
Interested applicants should possess an advanced degree, or other equivalent qualifications in relevant fields of study, with at least 10 years¢ working experience in dealing with a wide spectrum of areas in international relations, economics and finance, including regional economic and financial integration. The candidate must have supervisory capacity with proven managerial and leadership abilities, excellent analytical, research, and presentation skills.
Successful candidate will be offered the post with a probation of six months and monthly salary commensurate with his/her personal qualifications within the range of USD 4,000.00 and USD 5,000.00. There are other applicable benefits which include housing, medical, education of dependent children, gratuity, and annual performance bonus. Upon completion of the probationary period, the candidate will be confirmed as ADR for a three-year contract, inclusive of the six-month probationary period, in the first instance.
General Qualifications
Familiarity with diplomatic practices and protocol would be an added advantage. Other required qualities are: competency in written and spoken English; computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools; ability to multi-task and work long and irregular hours; ability to function effectively independently and as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment; a willingness to travel frequently on short notice; and a willingness to perform outside the usual job scope.
